Dave Trott is an advertising rebel. He doesn’t compromise, rules or correct formulations. And that’s exactly why his statement has such power:
“Don’t be better. Be different.”
Being better is comfortable.
It means doing the same thing, just a little faster, nicer or cheaper. But to be different – it takes something more. It takes courage. Not courage without fear. But the real one: Not to be afraid to be afraid. The courage to look at things differently. To question the established. To go down a path that no one has walked before.
That’s where the real creativity begins.
Not another version of the same thing. But a new perspective. A new service. New marketing. Not an effort to be a little bit better – but completely different. This is not a slogan. This is a challenge. A challenge to think boldly. Creatively. Otherwise.
And the story of the mermaid photo?
This photo was taken in the centre of Zadar. Lots of walks, morning runs and lots of swimming in the salt water. My head was ready to see. I found a scene that others were passing by unnoticed.
Did you also get the urge to do things differently?
So feel free to invite me to the game.
I will gladly participate in any meaningful rebellion.
Even yours.
